Myth 6 - No Impact to Downtown

❌ Myth: The new fire station won’t cause significant effects on traffic, noise, air quality, or public services.
✅ Fact: The County has not provided any study to support this claim, and common sense tells us otherwise.
How do they know? Did they conduct a study? Have they observed traffic downtown? Anyone who has spent time in Brentwood knows:
Traffic congestion in downtown is already an issue, especially before and after school or on Friday nights.
Sirens and emergency vehicles will disrupt the ambiance of downtown restaurants, events at the Veterans Hall, and community gatherings.
Where will delivery trucks load and unload? Downtown businesses rely on First Street and Diablo Way for access, and increased emergency vehicle traffic could create new logistical problems.
Will fire trucks get stuck at Oak & First Street in heavy traffic while trying to respond to emergencies?
The Real Issue: Land Use Restrictions
While traffic, noise, and business impacts are real concerns, the core issue is that this land was purchased with a special tax and is legally dedicated to veterans' use. The County cannot simply repurpose the land for a fire station without violating these restrictions.
💡 Bottom Line: Downtown Brentwood businesses and residents should be concerned about how this project will impact traffic, noise, and operations—but more importantly, the County has no right to build here in the first place.
Yes to the Station, NO to the Location
