BVMB Memorial Project

As we stand on the cusp of a historic milestone, with our beloved Veterans Memorial Building approaching its centennial mark, we are called to action by a solemn duty: to ensure that the valorous service of our veterans shall never fade from memory. In the coming year, we are working with esteemed partners like the East Contra County Historical Society, community members, and, above all, our revered veterans. Together, we embark on a sacred mission to immortalize the legacy of both our venerable hall and the gallant men and women who have selflessly defended our freedoms.

As the centuries-old walls of our hall stand as silent witnesses to the march of time, we are driven by an earnest desire to preserve the timeless narratives and images that encapsulate the essence of our veterans' sacrifice. In this noble pursuit, we are crafting an online memorial dedicated to our community's veterans—a sacred space where our community can reverently honor their service and sacrifices. In addition, we are meticulously documenting the hall's illustrious history of service to our community, ensuring that its legacy remains etched in the annals of time for generations to come.

We need your help

We are reaching out to you for assistance in this collective endeavor, earnestly inviting our community to unite with us in this noble cause. We kindly ask for your participation by sharing your stories and photographs, whether they capture the valorous deeds of veterans from East County or the cherished memories held within the walls of our historic hall. Your contributions will play a vital role in preserving our rich heritage and honoring the enduring legacy of our veterans.

How you can help

There are two meaningful ways you can contribute to our endeavor:

  • Honoring Veterans:

    • Write a concise biography for a veteran family member and submit it along with a photo of them in their uniform, if available. Additionally, other relevant photographs can be submitted for consideration to be included on the memorial page. We are particularly interested in their military service, their arrival to East County, and any noteworthy contributions they made to the community. (Currently, we are seeking stories of veterans who have passed away.)

  • Sharing Your Memories of the Hall:

    • Craft a brief reflection on what the hall means to you and recount the special events you've attended there. Describe how the hall has served the community and reminisce about the memories you cherish of the hall. Your personal insights will help us capture the essence of the hall's significance and its impact on our community.

How Your Submissions Will Be Utilized:

Your valued submissions will form the foundation of a digital sanctuary—a living memorial meticulously crafted to honor our veterans and uphold the timeless legacy of our revered hall.

Together, let us honor the indelible imprint of the Brentwood Veterans Memorial Building on our community, ensuring that its storied past continues to inspire and uplift future generations and ensure that the timeless spirit of service and sacrifice embodied by our veterans continues to inspire and uplift generations to come.
